FACCT Media Release

As part of the Good Farm project, Taranaki Catchment Communities is proud to extend a popular series of workshops to Taranaki farmers and landholders, equipping them to better understand their land, protect production and profitability through farm science, and feel confident in the face of increased regulation.

The Farming and Compliance Confidence Taranaki (FACCT) workshops are an opportunity to learn more about the science of the farm – and how to manage land, water and agricultural greenhouse gases to meet regulatory requirements and protect productivity.

Local farmer Campbell McCowan from PLANit Farming will deliver a series of ten workshops tailored to Taranaki farmers, looking at local catchment geology, soils, erosion, nutrients and freshwater, as well as Greenhouse Gas science.

The FACCT series has already been successfully delivered to the Makuri Catchment farmers and is now being made available to all Taranaki farmers, landowners, rural residents and those interested in Taranaki agriculture.

Previous attendees can’t speak highly enough about the FACCT workshops.

“Campbell’s talks on Greenhouse Gases and Freshwater Farm Plans are great! So informative, and explained clearly. No biased judgement, just stating the facts. We find these super useful to understand how this might affect our farm business, and it’s a great catch-up with the neighbours every fortnight” – Sami and Laura

“I recommend Campbell’s FACCT presentations not just for the rural community but for anyone who wants to know the facts.” – Bryan

“Campbell’s series of talks is informative and thought-provoking. The topics build upon one another, starting with greenhouse gases and leading to understanding New Zealand soils and being prepared for the upcoming farm plans and other regulation changes… This series of courses will leave you better prepared for the future and better able to understand your particular piece of land and what it needs so you can get the most out of it.” – Thomas
